What is the biggest things that shepherds that mislead do? They lie, they don’t speak the truth, they don’t follow Christ. Jesus told Pontius Pilate His life purpose and mission: “For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” Pontius Pilate asked Jesus: “What is truth?”
Jesus is the Good Shepherd, and His sheep know His voice. (Jn 10:11,27) Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. (Jn 14:6)
Jesus also said: “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (Jn 8:31-32) There are right and wrong beliefs about truth and freedom. The truth is the person of Jesus Christ and He came to free us from sin and death. He came so that we might have eternal life. “…I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” (Jn 10:10c) “…now that you have been freed from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit that you have leads to sanctification, and its end is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 6:22-23)
“Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus,
Who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
coming in human likeness;
and found human in appearance,
he humbled himself,
becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.” (Phil 2:5-11)
“I have been crucified with Christ; yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; insofar as I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given himself up for me.” (Gal 2:19c-20)
Let us begin or continue: “To walk in the path of love in the Body of Christ, which is the Church, nourished by the Body of Christ, which is the Eucharist.
